the gates at tynemouth pier

had a look up newbiggin bay today got there about 15.00, big sea, even a couple of surfers out, good few lads fishing, most of them standing holding their rods and I could see the weed swamping their lines, feeling a bit rough off the drink I thought " cant be ar*sed with that today" was just after a fairly easy session, jumped back in the car and ended up at the gates of Tynemouth pier, on the ramp, started off using lug and bluey then I switched to a pennel and put a full squid on stuffed with lug and cast out, put my other rig away and turned round and theres the butt of my rod up in the air, my rod balancing on the fence! grabbed it and felt a good old bite, struck and I knew I had it, got it in bang on 3 1/2 lb, nowt special but I was still owa the moon. got nowt else, had to leave at 18.30 as id told our lass id bath the bairns the night for school if I could go fishing!!!

nice fish mick,an underated shot some good fish come from here when the sea is big on high water,and nice and sheltered with the lads going on to the pier you have it to yourself. davy.

clean ground here sandy bottom providing you dont cast onto the top of the haven rocks. casting up towards shields pier i find best here. fish it over hw in the biggest of seas.

Cheers matey. Heard its a underrated little shot when the seas are huge. Will give it a go sometime.

aye that's the spot there mate next to the square blocks and like seatroot says clean ground, got this one casting towards shields pier but was just a little lob out about 30/40 yards. anyway seeing what you've been pulling in on ss pier youd be best off staying there mate!!! lol cheers mick.

nee bother mate. if its not fishing you can always climb owa onto the pier itself, deffo worth a look like. good luck mate. mick.

Is it ok to park at the boat house during day light mate ?

park in front of the sailing club the white building,not heard of any trouble with the cars,we have 20 to 30 cars on a r/m match and up to 40 cars on a sunday match without any trouble. don't park in the main car park behind the peir watch mans hut as your asking for trouble there. davy.
