fished the groyne from 5 until 7.30 this morning first three casts resulted in three lost sets of gear so moved back towards the little haven hotel and only had a couple of little bites, there was a lad fishing at the end who said he had lost 5 sets in 5 casts so he was going to try roker pier, so thought i might as well have a move so went over to walker riverside before the traffic got busy fished there for an hour and didnt even get a bite so called it a day!got quite a bit of bait left over so think i might try ss pier over the weekend to see if i can get a bit more luck than ive had today!:(

When I fished the Groyne on Sunday I lost two lots of gear fishing on the river side, but when the tide came in I was advised by two lads fishing there to give the beach side a shot. It paid off as I caught more fish on that side and didn't lose any tackle at all. Just gave it a good whack in the direction of the brigade hut.

Im sure over the summer some1 has lost a rope or summik. Wasn't that bad b4 dredger was there early summer ! Used to fish there with same lead most days!
Try the end of pier in the ebb m8. Been a few caught in last week!

I find the end of the Groyne similar to the end of the pier, fish on the ebb, as the flood pulls you back and in to snags more often than not...

If Im fishing the flood (rare from here) I fish the elbow of the groyne into the river, casting off to right of the old polit jetty.

I also heard someone mention a rope recently...

my opion the groyne's always been tackle hungry lost aload ov gear over the years. but wen its fishing its a decent mark with sum canny bags of fish

fished the end (river side) last night 21.30 down to low water 1230 only lost one set up and that was snagged on the rocks down the side caugh 1 flatty on the last cast you need to give it a generous cast and let it sink for ages and reel it in as fast as you can to get over the rope or a ledge thats down there
