Out the piers for 6.30 this morning, and straight to an inshore rough spot :).
The wind was a problem with 1.5 drifts, even threw a bucket over the side as a drogue to slow the drift slightly... , but we stuck at it and ended up with 8 cod and this fella for Deano on fresh crab.....:)

The wind dropped slightly arond 10.00 so we tried a wreck but nothing doing, so the day ended with 8 cod, 1 dogfish and a few smaller ones thrown back...:)

Was a hard day today with.that wind mate but managed a few out and the crack was spot on as ever proper enjoyed it and nice to get a doggy thanks again for the day out mate ill

Nah Keith...Deano doesnt like even touching them :D:D
Think i might try one next time, the lads reckon they call them Rock Salmon...

I tried to fillet a doggy in S/Wales a couple of years back...may as well have used a butter knife :D

As to the taste?....let's just say that I maybe need to try it again

It was a funny old day. Tried the wrecks first but with the wind nowt at all so decided to hit the hard ground. Me and Stu finished up with nineteen cod each and about a dozen whities each. Stu had our only mackerel of the day. All the cod were around the three pound mark and full of crab and sprat.
All the fish were taken in a mad 45 minute spell, It was as though someone had switched them on them switched them off again. I thought I had a pig on but turned out to be three codling, both of us had quite a few double shots. I think its a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Most of the fish were on daylights with the odd one on the orange jigger. The fish were really hammering the bait. Not bad in a four hour trip.
My best boat trip for a long time.

Aye its always good to release a few mate :)

Reckon the boat was 3 knotts faster after your haircut....:D;)

Canny little session Chris. Is that "hair of the dog" Deano got:D. I seem to remember the brown large dogfish caught off our coast many years ago were called sweet william, and the spotted dogfish were sold as rock salmon.
Tony, a filleting knife's not the tool for dogs, a pair of pliers after cutting round the head and skin them:rolleyes::D
