Made the most of a drop in the wind and a day off to try a couple of wrecks and a bit uptiding..:)
Sea was like glass and the drift was spot on for a while...

After trying 2 wrecks for an hour or so, there was nothing biting....but this fella did show up...:D

Decided bait fishing might be a better option so i headed in and anchored up just off Seaham North Pier..

Not long and the first tommy codling took the bait and was returned safely...hmmm...:)

From then on bites came regularly, whities, more tommies and my first doggie from this coast..:):)

2 keepers today....a cod at 2lb 1oz and one at 1lb 8oz.....not big but they will go ok with chips...:)

Despite the rain earlier, it was a nice day to be afloat and plenty knocks to keep me occupied.....:)

Cant wait for the wrecks to start fishing.....

Wow, that looks flat Chris, why don't we get seas like that at the weekends? Well done finding the fish, with less than a week to go you may be this month's boat comp winner. :)

Great report Chris, plus a few fish - sorted! Lovely colouring on that doggie.

Hope it is the start of the fishing for the guys down in the North East. :)

Wont be long Kevin, flat seas on weekends, and your Mega Plotter - Sounder will be chocka block with fish symbols :)

Things must be pretty desperate if a 2lb codling wins a monthly comp dont you think....:D:D

Even more desperate that the rest of us cannot beat it. :) I hope you’re right that soon the plotters and the boats will be full of fish.

Very tempted to put in an early finish today and have sneaky couple of hours chris, good to see you did it!! Bet you had a little smile on ya face, the first coddies of your season doesn't matter how big just the fact you got out there and found em!! Hope to see you out there very soon!!

Great report Chris. You certainly picked the best day. Doggies are showing up more and more in catch reports, hope it doesn't end up like on the west coast:rolleyes: I was out from 1pm till 3-30pm and only had two size codlings as well, the best would be around 2-1/4lb but didn't bother weighing it, so good luck with the heaviest fish for this month, that is of coarse if i can get back out there before the end of the month:D:D
