The Last Tommy

I hope every one watched this last night.

It is the only tv that has reduced me to tears at the end of it.

What a f*cking waste of lives.

I haven`t been to the war graves in France and Belgium, but hope to go one day.

I`ve got a couple of great-uncles there, who died at Ypres and on the Somme.

all that waste down to the upper class officers who bought their commissions. The reason why they started the officers boot camps to get some new commoners with a bit of an idea, too much in breeding in the upper classes which made quite a few rather daft old chap. They always said the british tommies with german officers would have been the ideal army.

I lost it at the end of \"The Somme\" a couple of nights ago on Ch 4. T top it all forcing the lads to WALK across no-mans land, absolutely unbelievable.
