the locker

ToTally agree tony plus rules seem to change on Nesa my mate Davey 1970 banned and rightley so but other people banned and let back under a new name and admin know this but allow it even though he was my mate too but can't change the rules to suit

Agree with that Mick, admin know who they are and do nothing about it, totally wrong!

Facebook/locker and its million other fishing groups is 99% bollocks imo, its nothing more than a quick form of communication, try finding anything interesting or any quality content on fishing on there, its needle in a haystack stuff..apart for the odd pic and sales its the same daft questions asked by the same jeremy kylers and report chasers day in day out. there's more shared experiences and more helpful members on the forums...

I couldn't have put it better myself mate, you are spot on! :)

I beg to differ on that one I run a fishing group on facebook. It is more about catch reports and helping people out. I regularly post hints and tips for members and share as much info on marks and baits as much as I can.

I dont have Facebook as it causes so much bother never have never will - I still get in bother on the damn thing even though I dont have it.

So unfortunatly I dont get to see the locker - I did have a go of it once on our lass account as I heard a reel was going I was after and it seemed to be full of kids my rods bigger than your rod and caught 10 doubles from ratty today

i think people use the 'locker' because most have the app on their phone and find it easier/quicker.
I know you can get NESA on your phone but its not as good as the facebook app.

I think the taptalk app for this forum works great. I'd rather use a forum than Facebook, no structure to it

Is this not a bit of an odd debate

As when you break it down.
One is a closed group on a facebook page which isn't formatted the other a structured & sub categorised forum. So on this basis yes NESA should / will be the easier site to navigate.
Other than this surely they are very similar if not the same ?

i.e. remove the structure (sub categories) of a Forum & what do you have ?

Truth is it doesn't matter which way you look at it both are fuelled by the same thing !

This being the content provided by the people using them & to be fair I would guess 80% of members them will be on both & use them both as information resources ?

Himself makes a canny point above on the structure but having read this thread I've gone on the Locker a few times in the last few days and think there are a couple of obvious differences.

First, posters on here seem happy to provide a bit of assistance, either by calling out a mark where they had fish or sending PM's. As someone new to Northumberland fishing this has been a huge help for me. I don't see anything like that on the Locker where to me it looks more like people bigging up their catches.

And nowt wrong with that as I'd big up some of the catches I've read about on there laterly. But the other difference seems to be that loads of the threads degenerate into schoolyard name calling, insults and my dads bigger than your dad.

Each to their own but it summed up all that is ****e about Facebook for me.

I think you're missing the point.
