just had it confirmed there was at least 3 macky caught on s.shields pier yesterday, also heard (although not confirmed) of a few showing on seaham pier, time to dust the spinning gear off.

was on a boat no more than a mile off tynemouth pier today and saw another boat pulling 4 and 5 in at a time, so they are dfinately here.

just got back from devon yesterday.....stayed there for a week, and they are deffinatley there already....3 good nights fishing....

walked along the piolet pier h,pool yesterday morning ,plenty of lads fishing mostley on the bottom but a few were also spinning, water was clear and there was sprats all round the pier but i never saw anything landed.

not long till all the clowns arrive on the piers, thats why i go down at first light,
let the summer of slaughter begin.

Not even bothering with piers this year, Blyth last summer was one of the most unpleasant fishing experiences I've ever had. It was absolutely rammed, full of a+++holes chucking their rubbish around and dead fish everywhere, abusing people sailing past, little chava kids casting over you all the time and knocking your stuff over with their bikes... really some people shouldn't be allowed to fish. Very disappointing, I'm going to find some quieter spots this summer.

Fair comment mate - didn't do any pier bashing last year for that very reason - welcome to NESA :)

quite agree rather go out at 5 in morning than stand shoulder to shoulder and see people hauling dozens in on feathers, prefer light gear and spinner and they are as good as trout on the fly.

i usually arrive about 3am have a lil sesh bottom fishing with bait then when the sun comes up have a couple hours with the spinner then am away before the numptys arrive any one wanna buy some cheap spinners LOL

porpous

Seen about half a dozen porpouses close in off seaburn beach yesterday no more than200 yds, obviously feeding on something judging by the flock of seagulls, they stayed around for a while much to the amusement of everyone on the beach then headed off north east.
