The New Lure Challenge 2013

Right lads, i have done a bit of research and it looks like i am in the wrong here. Let me first of all apologies for my ignorance, and say i would never activity encourage anyone to intentionally go and foul hook a fish. So as to activity discourage this method of fishing known as "Snatching" i will not be allowing any foul hooked fish in the lure challenge.

May i also say that my previous comments were my view only and not the views of NESA and i hope my ignorance has not tarnished the good name of this forum.

I must also add that i do not think the fish in question was caught illegally, as from what i have read it is only illegal to intentionally foul hook fish and i don't believe for a second that that has happened in this case.

I hope that clears this up.

Thanks for all the post.

Well said mate and I don't believe anything has been done illegally I think things have been blew out of proportion and this dose note make you look ignorant or neither Nesa
Keep up the good work mate it is well appreciated

Lads sorry to have caused such a fuss. I will happily withdraw my Launce if you want so the "no foul hooked" rule can be part of this years challenge. I am sure I will get another one over the summer by more legitamate means :)[/QUOTE
What a sporting gesture. I tip my hat to you thunder pants.try a set of sabikis ( they are very small feathers). Then use the launce for live baiting

It's the principle of entering a foul hooked fish, weather you word it "accidentally" or "intentionally" caught or not, it still does not fall in to the category of "fairly caught"

Snatching is illegal & don't know of any respecting club or society that would allow it.

I am pleased that you have done some research and will now promote only "fairly caught" fish entries ,therefore I will continue to enter species and support NESA lure fishing section.

I don't think any part of the forum has been tarnished at all in fact quite the opposite, it's a positive move to apologise, educate and move forward, Thank you

Sorry I missed this post pants of thunder. As has already been said that's very sportsmanlike of you, sabikis would also be my choice of lure ;-)

g'day lads. good on you phil for updating the rules as challenge organiser so swiftly...hats of to u mike for withdrawing ur fish. . now if anyone wants to show how not to foul hook fish ....feel free. ur tips and pointers are always welcome

OK I have removed my Launce from the Species Hunt and added a rule there about no foul hooking. I still want a point for my pollack though :)

I am amazed that there is something called "snatching" as I would think it is much more difficult to deliberately catch a fish by foul hooking than it is to catch by normal methods. Maybe that's just me being thick though.

Yes I may try sabikis, thanks, but I have caught a few before on Hokais Size 4 so will probably just use those since I already have some.

No question on the pollock pants of thunder , hooked "fairly" IMO

It's quite surprising how Aggressive & veracious predators launce actually are, I've had them come up and take patchinkos.

Lol no! Really close into the rock edges with a very slowly worked 3 off Sabiki trace! There were loads of the little buggers. Sadly nothing bigger. I've got bigger lures!! Lol

Si it could have been 3lb and you would have sill had bigger lures lol

Dam you and you fish, i was well happy until i came on here, managed a couple more myself tonight, headed home happy in the knowledge I'd be in joint second place.... Oh no you had to go knock another one off haha well done mate I'll post my pics and update the table tomorrow
