The Sarah JFK?

well we are just gonna get the boat rods + reels on the cheap..£50 for the lot, and if boat fishing dont work out for me then ill just sell them on ebay again lol, i dont really mind, just looking forward to going out, since you said alan may not stop for mackerel then ill buy a couple of packets of fillets.

theres supposed 2 be a few dog fish about and some thorn backs...if i wanna try for one of those shall i just throw half a strip of mackerel on.

also my step da was going on about tope, now i no we aint gonna catch tope when we go, but do you no where we would be able to go to get some? people were saying hartlepool

right so i need to write a few things down.......

how many lead weights/pirks will i need, and what ounce ones?
and what are the prices usually?

I think Top of your list ought to be seasickness tablets . . . would be a shame to spoil the day if you got caught short (and its no embarassment as loads suffer especially on first few trips) ....... I`m sure there`s a load of suggestions on whats best from lads on here which will follow.

Bait, forget it there`s mackerel Everywhere .... maybe a box of squid to make a cocktail but thats all, mackerel at this time of year is King.......

Gear, loads of weights and/or pirks (20 minimum for a full day with Alan especially if theres a drift on), as its your first time out keep it simple daylights and/or hokkias but you need to bait all the hooks heavily with mackerel or else you`ll never get to the bottom without hooking into more mackerel (use the daylites with no bait for catching your first mackerel).

Good money saving tip is to cut the traces in two and use just two hooks, they last twice as many snags that way and its nearly always the bottom hook that catches anyway, we often fish with one hook.

good luck

:) :) :)

well ive bought those orange squid jigs, they are supposed to be popular for cod on the JFK lol, ermm ill get some of the cheap daylights with the white tale and colored head coz thats what i always catch my mackerel on. ..

my step dad said he'll make his own pirks..if not then we will just buy some...buy 10 pirks and 10 heavy weights....

shud be a good day out hoping to get a few decent double figure weight fish, whether it be cod, ling or pollock, even the odd thorn back or dog fish wudnt go a miss..

Andy was that you fishing the right hand side of the boat at the front on friday? I was the one in the red coat fishing with lead heads all day next to Bambra.

Yeah i was the one who lost pretty much a full reel of braid, and then was beat by 5oz on the sweep by bamber!! Put my ling in a pie last night, beautiful. Gonna try my best to get out again later this week, maybe friday again. You seemed to do well on the lead heads.

Yer i had a few keepers and returned a few from the lead heads. The afternoon was abit of a write off with the weather and fast drift but you also feel Alan is doing his best to catch the fish.

I am also looking at this Friday but the weather dont look over great 12-15mph WSW going S winds.
