The Shields open

Hello everybody, I know it's "early doors" but I wonder if the time and date has been set for this years "Shields open"? It's just that, if it hasn't, could any of the Shields club members that visit these boards consider fishing it over high water this year? I feel this would attract a lot more interest to those wishing to fish the "cliff tops" as well as those who like to fish the pier as well.

Thank you Tony

The shields open this year Tony is on the 15th November, fishing between 10am-3pm. H/W is 2-13pm, I hope this helps and look forward to seeing you there. Keith

tony, are you only king of the high water rocks then?

Stevie, unfortunately there's lots of lads who are "put off" fishing at low water, for numerous reasons. Like, it's hard work clambering over rocks to get to a fishing shot as well as dangerous, and the tackle losses can be heavy too. So I was looking at the "bigger picture" and thought it would be more even and considerate if it was fished over high water. I however have no qualms if it was fished at "low water" as I've got my eye on a couple of low water shots at Whitburn.

alreet fellas! Best get my thinking cap on then, well ive got til november, never touched my gear since last club match in march, gonna get it out next week and head north i thinks. Laters!

Tony, the shields open is always fished up to high water, it has never ever been over low water.
You talking about safety!
Whatever next.

As long as I can remember the Shields open has always been fished from the second hour of the flood, to high water, and sometimes just over. For some reason last year it was fished from first of the flood. Now that it's back to normal, can we see the return of the humble Rockling being weighed in?
