After getting some great information from members on here I took my two youngest boys down to St Peters Basin for a chuck today.
We got there about half ten and were fishing for 11. We had a great bite first cast and Fraser got hung up with a fish, we could feel the fish kicking but had to pull free and lost the lot.
Next cast though Harris caught the first fish of the session, a small whiting:

Fraser was next with a flounder:

He also ended up with the biggest today, a nice whiting:

We had a great day and ended up with 7 whiting and the flatty, all returned for another day. I will be back next week with the two of them and fingers crossed for a codling for them.
The last photo shows the effect of fresh air:

Thanks again for the advice on the mark,

Cheers,

Graham.

I took my 5 year old laddie and 8 year old lassie digging last week, the laddie wasn't bothered but the lassie was in hands first picking them up and ended up with hands like a 20 year smoker! Both were the same as yours and wiped out...but only after a minchellas ice cream!

nice to see the kids catching fish .I try my best to take my two fishing when i can they love it and all ways beat me lol :)

great report excellent pics and quality time spent which the lads will never forget better than pc,s and mobiles good fun future anglers in the making

Mint report Graham, great to see the bairns catching, that's what fishing and this forum are all about anglers helping each other out for end results and fab pictures like that.:)

Day out.

Day out.

This is what gets kids into fishing. It pays dividends when they get older and they go fishing instead of hanging round the streets in gangs with nowt to do. I must admit I sleep like that as soon as I get home and in the warm. The bairns will never forget these days and will more than likely do the same with their kids. Well done mate .:):)
