The velvet beds

Just been looking at a few old pictures of the south shields area and come across this one...can anyone tell me where this exactly was? Is it where the old lifeguard hut is at the bottom of marsden steps?

Holmes gut is to the left of the stone steps, it's called velvet beds because of the seaweed that covered the rocks that made them look like velvet, the pics are where the lifeguard hut is now.

Looking at the cliff fall emergency station will not be there much longer.
