aye, you\'ll need a licence 23quid
try the ol\' fluff chucking malarkey instead, get a reasonable outfit for 40 ot 50 quid to get ya going, spend more on the rod than the reel, as the reel\'s just there to hold your line really (not stopped me spending over a hundred quid on a reel like!)
and you can eat what you catch (mostly!)
very little kit needed, rod reel and some flies....but its a double edged sword, once you\'re hooked there\'s some very nice (and very expensive) tackle that\'s very hard to resist

its hoot if you get anything of a half decent size as the gear is so light. I\'ve got one fly rod thats wieghs all of 2oz, on which i\'ve been waterskiing behind a 5lb sea trout..
plus its rare that you blank which has to be a plus, you usually get your bait back every time to take home and use next time and ... you can ponce about in ludicruosly expensive and unfashionable clothes

try pike fishing with lures , once you get your first take YOUR HOOKED,,,,
The problem with coarse fishing is its a) Very expensive once you get into it b) You have to travel further a field to fish the best waters. However, it does have its advantages, Least you know theres fish there! Used to fish the matches on the Tees, Sesay, Catterick etc.
Great venues, Really like Catterick if your into catching carp on the pole. I suppose it all depends what sort of coarse fishing you want to do really. I dropped it all for the fly and days at sweethope catching trout on an orange fritz

Mind Summer on the boat off a buzzing wreck is even better 
I enjoy fly fishing but preferably in places that look at least semi-natural and even more preferably where there are some wild fish. River\'s my favourite but most of the best places expensive and have waiting lists. Luckily I have a friend who takes me as a guest no and then. Alnmouth estuary always worth a shot. Caught my 1st salmon there on a little black fly. Bit muddy. I\'ve found myself falling overf quite a lot trying to escape from it. Keep intending to do some pike fishing but haven\'t got round to it. I understand carp fishing worth a shot too.

get yerself to cow green, the only truly wild trout fishery in england and its teeming with the little buggers, catches of over a hundred brownies in a day are not uncommon, even I\'ve managed 20 to 30 regularly, mostly small uns, 8-12oz, but usually one or two pound plus fish every time, even the little uns are canny scrappers
2 little uns on a plate taste a million times better than a big fat hormone fed stockie, and.. you can keep 16 fish on a fiver day ticket, thats if you don\'t forget to drop your fiver in the honesty box

Must agree with Mark - Cow Green is a cracking place,
For 5 notes, its a bargain, you can cover miles of bank and not see another angler all day!
The place is teaming with fish, however the weather is something that you must bear in mind! If there\'s a breeze at the coast, its gales at Cow Green. I would recommend it to anyone that appreciates getting out and about and not interested in huge fish.

Well from the programmes I\'ve been watching the main appael for me is Pike and maybe Salmon ,lures only seem to interest me ( at the moment ). A mate of mine from work fished for pike for years but gave it up since his divorce and sold his boat ,if he gets back into it I might give it a shot ....he\'s quite well known from what I hear from other lads .
