This is getting ridiculous now......

makkie

makkie

whats wrong on a nice day fishing with a cork off the bottom for makkie yes chavs spoil for every body but theres places u can fish with out the numtie brigade why do u read the post about makkie then moan just dont read then quite simple:p

whats wrong with catching makky??

Nothing at all, if you have any intention of actually using them

Its the numpties who catch hundreds of them then dump them or leave them to cook in the sun that **** me off

And when there 50 threads a day asking if theyre in, where to go, how to fish for them, how much water you need, high water, low water blah blah it ****es you off

Sad thing is, and its really sad. You dont see the mackie bashers out and about to use there bait

They say mackerel is brain food? Theyre definitely not eating the mackerel so what are they doing with them?

Best thing i read for ages !!

Roll on the winter and get some real fishing done and not a summer fisherman in sight :D

Far better fishing to be had in summer id say

winter is about cod and nothing else especially around here

winter isnt much different as far as the piers are concerned.
Ya just replace idiots fishing for macky with idiots fishing for whiting.

But if being on a secluded rock edge is what ya mean then i concur

So why is there more fisherman fishing nothing gets the sme reaction as a pig getting pulled out. The feeling especially if its been a snotty session or had a mare then even striking into what feels a good cod no better feeling in fishing. Normally to find its a kelp branch

a use all of mine only go.down.for a hour get 10-20.back.hime fillit them then freeze them but since there thay many sinkers flying about it has out me off for.now

I honestly can't see any reason for going onto the piers for them. Why put up with all that c**p? I've never set foot on Roker or shields after April until September for over 20 years.

You and a couple of mates chip together for petrol and have a day at the Mull or Whithorn. You'll get all the mackerel you want (take a coolbox) and you'll have peace, quiet, great surroundings and a lot better fishing.

I've fished a mark at Whithorn and I could see the shoals of mackerel passing by my feet.

Leave the piers to the lunatics.

Id say the lads landing nice big smoothys, bass and tope get a better buzz.

What im saying is there a much more variation in summer and much more potential for a big fish but thats if you travel

locally then i agree winter is far better but thats only for cod everything else other than stinking whiteys is a waste of time

the best way to fish for mackerel is light tackle, think fresh water tackle, light feeder rod 3lbs line straight through with a small float and shot, drag of on your reel and a size one barbless hook and when you hook one watch it go of like a steam train and you can't just haul it in you have to play the fish which takes skill , yes skill when your mackie bashing and I guarantee you won't get a better fight pound for pound from any fish, fresh or sea water so don't knock fishing for mackerel just change the way you fish for them. mackerel are a noble little fighting fish and deserve a lot more respect than they get from sea anglers.
