Thoughts on Crab Traps

So your total knowledge of forums and my moderating skills come from your four full days on NESA, you must pick things up very quickly to be able to put me right on my mistakes already Micky.

My comments on possibly removing the thread were not for your benefit but the benefit of NESA as people getting at each others throats does nothing at all for anyone.

Jim.

My observation was a literal one, based on your initial reply and that alone. You say that this subject is a contentious one, and which has provoked debate - heated debate - unecessary vitriol - in the past. But how was I supposed to have identified this, when, by your own admission, you have deleted all these historic posts from the very thread you initially sent to me? The thread you added was a broad church, and I've been unable to identify any similar content of the sort I had hoped to discuss.
Maybe what we need is a set of guidelines for doing traps - more of an official position that an informal ettiquette. I don't know.

But how was I supposed to have identified this ......

I just did the same search and found that
http://www.nesa.co.uk/forums/shore-fishing/13179-crab-traps.html straight away with over 100 replies on the thread

look at http://www.nesa.co.uk/forums/shore-...collecting-peelers-will-soon-need-permit.html

too me seconds to find and has all the extreme views I guess you're hoping for.

if you look at the members who posted on there, many have been here since the beginning, and seen the arguement rage before, so p'raps its a case of not going there again for the majority - been there, done that, bought the tee shirt

what I'm saying is, its unlikely there's going to be any new/differing views, so it might not have any mileage dragging it up again

If the fiirst link doesn't show you how divisive a subject this is, try imagine how nasty things must of been in the deleted bits

Cheers for that. Either way, I'll be doing any traps I find come this Spring time. No-one - and I mean - no-one - has the right to place rubber gill-nets all over the fish quay beach and claim that these un-licencesed, arbritrary restrictions are 'theres'. I'll do the traps. Simple as that!

well thanks lads. good to see that ive provoked some mature, sensible debate about an important issue. reading your clearly 'harkes' back to my high school days (you like my seasonal pun - i guess that kind of humour has amused the chattering classes amongst you for most of today).
guess we should just stick to conforming to the administrators pleasure - the sycophants in tow...
