Got to agree there chris Ive worked with many smokers and they are allways of the opinion that because they smoke they have a god given right to an extra break of lets say 10mins an hour where as Im left grafting away now 10 mins isnt a great deal but over the week it mounts up to about 6 and a half hours why the f..k should I work the extra hours for them ... if you say owt its oh stop ya whinging ..well who\'s whinging (me again lol) now git oot the pubs and public places then at least when Im off work i can enjoy it without tab stench :P :P

Bit busy with work tonight.
Personally It does\'nt bother me as long as people respect I\'m a non smoker along with my family,live and let live,it was the government that allowed mass promotion of smoking in the 40\'s 50\'s 60\'s well up until a few years back,I except it will create a cleaner environment at local level,public area\'s etc,dont suppose it will have much effect on the amount of people that smoke

its a well know fact that snoopy was gunned down in a benwell crack house several years ago for interfering with one of Mr Benn\'s \'ho\'s\'
 
Batt - there all the effin\' same these politicians.........in South Tyneside, they\'ve decided to ban smoking in all Council Offices. Well, actually this came into force a couple of years ago - with one exception.....during lunch time, they allow a small room to be opened up as a \"smoking room\" for staff in the Town Hall......it gets locked again at 2:00pm on the dot. They\'ve now decided to remove that 1 exception.
HOWEVER.........the Councillors (those who\'ve decided not to allow staff to smoke ANYWHERE in the building), have their own \"members suite\", complete with brand new leather chesterfield sofas, deep pile carpet, their own (staffed) \"refectory\" and a bar.......oh.....and guess what........they can still smoke in there, too.

had a beer or two with a m8 who runs a bar an old working mans bar allways has been no glitz just a fine bar no trouble finish work call in have a pint a smoke (most do) i asked him how are you gonna cope with this new rule he said i\'ll shut shop this crap gov aint thought it through as usual anyway i really am thinking of trying to give it up again my best was 5 days then my mrs went out bought me a packet cos i was a bad to live with i\'ll try again cos i can see all these im allright jack pricks having a laff as we stand outside the clubs and pubs and i dont wanna go to prison :D

what is it with the once proud ppl of britain who now roll over and let stupid laws dictate sad times
anyway im sure in the years to come we will have more bans to talk abouut with this labour gov

they are gettig rid of us smokers in public, next will be the anti social drinkers and binge drinkers, which most of us are acording to the goverment because we drink more than 3 pints when out.

me dad says that in a few years we will all be fitted with micro chips(not the ones ya eat) so we are monitered 24 hours a day, there wiil be no such thing as cash or cards. the little chip in your arm will have all that info stored on it. by the way me dad can be a little strange now and then just like his son. lol.
like bat said he will no longer vote labour. i voted labour too but not anymore, this goverment is in it for themselves not us :casstet:

why should non smokers have the right enforce their wishes on someone else if they were in a \'smokers pub\'??

if you don\'t want to be around it go somewhere else

why not say ok, ok in year 1 50% of pub smoke free, and reduce it by 5% over 10 years

just read an interesting articel by \'forest\' (the smokers capaign group) the new law may actually be illegal under a couple of EU acts and human rights legislation and they are thinking of challenging it in brussels

no seeing as the EU is largely run by the french(!) who smoke like the proverbial chimney, it might actually work!
 
what a lot of people seem to be missing is that the legislation is being put into place not to protect non-smokers like me when i go into a pub or club, but to protect the staff from a possible vile death from cancer through breathing second hand smoke while just trying to earn a crust.

also you will find if a smoker lights up after the ban in a pub it is the landlord that gets fined not the ignorant fuckwit who lights up because it\'s \"against his/her (imaginary) human rights\"

just imagine the fun we non-smokers are going to have watching all the beagles outside trying to light up a damp fag with a damp match in a force 8 gale and pissing rain :P

better than football on the telly or a game of pool any day :D ;)

just think, for us up here in just 5 weeks we can go out to the pub with a clean shirt on, then get up in the morning, check it for beer stains and wear it for another day because it\'s not stinking of minging fags

i watched my dad rot for 3 years with lung cancer caused by smoking, watched him go from a relatively fit (for a smoker) man out every night training his dogs to a scared haunted old man who was lucky if he was 5 stone when he died

even after giving up for 12 years it still got him in the end, even now myself, everytime i have a cold i have a cough for about a month after caused by secondhand smoke with living and working with him for 25 years :mad:

the only good thing, if you can call it good, that came out of it is my boys saw him go horribly and my oldest in particular will never smoke from what he saw his grandad go through
