Do any of you guys trailer your boats across the west coast and fish the likes of luce bay, ive fancied taking a boat across for years but never got round to it, IF a few boats travelled across together its got the makings of a couple of days of great fishing. Anyone up for it?

As you know Troy i cant but it is a great area...if your after large ways, prices and a good BnB with safe area for your boat over night let me know as i have the info...we just got abck from Luce bay last week and had a canny time...going back in 3 weeks time to try for tope again.

luce bay

luce bay

read your report richie fished up there myself years ago always been mad keen to go back and fish of my own boat, going to make the effort after and do it, be good to get a few other boats up there to, looking towards the end of this month when things should be in full swing,
will see how many are interested in going and make plans for bed n breaky or camping and boat storage , will give you a shout when we have more definite numbers.

I will take my boat to Luce Bay no problem. Let me know when you would like to go. It was on the agenda for me this season as I keep the boat in Girvan harbour.

Ardwell is good tope area but the slip way at low tide is not great, once you are off the slip the sand turns to mud and a few cars have been lost the last 12 months. A Discovery 6 worth 60k went under a few weeks ago.

Drummore has a tractor slip but it will cost you and you will need to launch at 9am.

I cant think of any others around that way.

Thank you for the good advice. I'm not loosing my Freelander for a couple of fish.

Might need to ask around, see if there are any tractor people around.

Contact the Clash caravan site at Drummore, they will put you onto a lad called Rab...he runs a tractor and will do it for you for cash in hand. Ardwell is ok but you really need to lauch and recover High tide to 3 hours down and 3 hours up from low...anything else and you risk needing to go off the ramp into the mud and run the risk of being stuck.

I have used this ramp in the past without any major issues. The ramp is fairly steep and a 4 wheel drive would be the best bet although with a small boat its fine with a car.
If your going over next week, the tides are;
High Tide 04:41 (6.30m)
Low Tide 11:08 (0.80m)
High Tide 17:11 (5.90m)
Low Tide 23:25 (1.20m)
For Saturday 29th June 2013.

Might be over myself.

Cant make it next weekend with the boat, but will be at the caravan at Auchenlarie.

Where abouts are you's staying ????, could meet you's later though if your going for a pint (am only 40 mins away).

Just another though, when i have been across there i have noticed the tackle shop/boat storage area at Ardwell launching and recovering boats with a tractor onto the beach, maybe worth giving them a call.

ardwell

This site is like the oracle there is always someone with information to an area where ever it is, and thank you for it, ardwell seems like a good place to start, will be sorting b&b out this week. was liking the idea of the tope festival that mr charlton pointed out but unfortunatley the other half has gone and booked us a holiday over them dates and it not to scotland.

The tractors belong to private boats don't be suckered in with Ardwell bay ramp at high tide it looks great but it's a nightmare from half tide down I was there when a tractor went down last year you can launch with a car at Port Logan
