They are skipjack tuna and are being taken in the gill nets, some as close as half a mile offshore. One was taken this morning at Amble. They are not big fish, on average two to two and a half kilos. There are reports of them from Amble to Whitby.

Best method is a Kona Head trolled between eight and nine knots.

Only way I can get to nine knots is with the wind and tide behind me, even then you'd be able to cook your dinner on the engines.
