Fished Last night (Sunday 28th). There was a nice swell rolling into the South end of the beach, but slatey was knocking most of the sea off at the bottom of the stairs, where I chose to start. Two casts & the bait came back untouched. So moved round the corner to Cullercoats. Looked a lot "fishier" with a nice sea running in to the bay. First chuck was a 20 yarder close into the skeer. Had a cracking knock, waited 10 mins but didn't come back. Just as I picked the rod up to check the bait it bent over and I pumped in a nice cod of 7 lb 2 oz. Got another of 1 3/4 lb an hour or so later. Good night out in perfect conditions apart from my rod rest going in the drink as the wind got up. (if anyones mooching around the harbour at low tide & finds an Ian Goulds rest, chances are it's mine!.). I've got a pic of the fish but as usual will have to mail it to someone as I don't have a clue!
