Tynemouth Lido

Fished it one night around the Xmas just gone. It was a Spring High Tide and dead calm. Scaled right down to size 4s on 3 hook flappers and cast in all directions. Expected to get nowt and basically got nowt....two very small Whiting which gave hilariously exaggerated bites coz it was so calm. They were caught casting fairly short onto clean sand.

I really don't know, but have always reckoned that mark is a bit Catch22....if it's calm it's fishable but fishless...if it's rough it's unfishable but would probably yield
Codling.... There's always the beach though.

I gave it a go this year in a big sea 'cos it does look "fishy" does'nt it !. Had to have the gear well back from the wall as there was quite a bit of water coming over. Very strong current (similar to fishing the bathing pool skeer). If you get a fish you'd probably have to walk onto the beach to land it as the waves wash right along the wall. We ended up going off the prom at King Ed's, much more comfortable. Next season might still try a chuck off the south corner into the rough stuff when the sea has just died off.

Fish the most seaward corner and cast just north of east. Not a popular spot with me but there's a few fish caught every year when there's a bit sea on.
