N.B. The square end of Blyth pier is out of bounds, always has been and always will be until the Port of Blyth state that it is now a legally accessable mark. Please let as many anglers know as you can as there seems to be an opinion because it is being fished you can fish it in the open.

The end has been accessible for a number of years now Alan, the gate has always been left open, its fenced all around the end now (not the iron gates)has the port of Blyth been contacted to confirm whether its open to the public !

The end is out of bounds whether it has een open for years or not, there are many venues where anglers have taekn locks off where they should not fish and are fish regularily, that does not mean they are legally accessible. the end has always been out of bounds and always will be. the last time we contacted the Port of Blyth it was not accessible to the public and his was for the oepn. The boundaries for the open have been set and we are not going to change them.

Surely it will be printed in the comp rules that the pier square end is out of bounds. If it isn\'t then it should be as a lot of anglers will not know and therefore be disqualified. I for one would not be happy about it if the pier is included especially if I was from outside the area and travelled maybe 100 miles to fish it and caught the HSF from there only to be told that I was out of bounds.
Wonder how things would be on a legal basis if someone took the committee to court for the said disqualification if they had not been informed. I think I would rather be on the side of the angler especially as there are no signs up to warn anyone that it is out of bounds.
Once again not trying to get the rules changed just stating a fact. It should be in the rules.

Jim.

There will be a notice on the gate and a steward on the pier. It has always been out of bounds in the Tynemouth Open, for some reason anglers themselves are putting it in and giving reasons why it should be in. Why do anglers not just abide by the rules. There are many areas ecluded rivers etc which are legally accessible, why should rules be changed to suit a few. THE SQWUARE END IS OUT OF BOUNDS.

Can\'t see any problems if there is going to be a steward on the pier. Not a chance of cheating. No one on here trying to change the rules Alan. As long as everyone knows it isn\'t a problem.

Think we will end it here not getting enough bites, only Alan f biting hard. You have to laugh, i know Alan was just stating a point. It is amazing though how many anglers do try and get things changed to suit themsleves, and there are those who always dont agree with the organisers. All i say to them is get off your butt and do it yourself.

Sorry Alan f

No Problem Alan,I dont fish competitions as a rule,as I said the pier end has been left open for years now and new railings erected on the square,I think it would be open to the public if it was\'nt for the navigation light on the end,if you dont want a reply have your post \"topped\" and \"locked\" ;) ,I do try my best not to post very often now :exclam:

You should post more often Alan f the more posts the merrier. Do you not fancy fishing Tynemouth Open, loads of table prizes. It is amazing actually how many anglers now do not fish comps club or opens. Would be interseting to find out why. myabe you could give us your reasons it could start an interesting topic.

Often fancied joining a club Alan but its a bit awkward having a young family and working shifts,as for fishing competitions, same as above, dont get out enough to find the marks that are fishing well plus its seems like its the same people clearing up the prizes,IMO,if you are fishing three or four times a week law of averages you are going to have a good session sometime or at least you\'ll know where to go back to on a Sunday for a competition, probably 95% of people that enter have no chance of winning, yes you\'ve got to be in it to win it.its only a hobby for me but some of the top lads are making some decent money out of it,if they dont win the cash they sell there prizes on.
You really need to be flexible for club and comp fishing,ie retired, semi retired, self employed, single,no kids,on the dole.Thats no offence to anyone by the way,I\'ve been on the dole before and I loved it,always had money, got out for a drink, went to the Gym etc etc lol, thats honest !

Your right Alan that was honest. I used to be a member of a club. Apart from when I used to go to church I have never met such a closed minded hypocritical set of people. Not all of them I will admit, some of them were very nice people. One of them was one of the nicest people I have met. HE could not have been more helpful and also hated the \" closed shop attitude \" of some of the club fishermen. I do not think that any person that reads this that has been a member of a club could not fail to reckognise the type of people I am talking about.
As i have said I did meet some very nice people but don\'t know if I would like to join another club.
As far as fishing comps goes I havn\'t fished many. I live well inland as most of you know which causes it\'s own problems. I have only once done really well in a comp but I don\'t feel a great need to fish them. I loved my first year match fishing but don\'t know if I would want to do it again.

Jim.

Recognise all the people you two have mentioned. As an angling writer I do get anglers who get good catches and they will not let you know where from, as if it matters as fish will not be there the next time as the conditions will be different. Alan f is right anbout the same anglers winning most big events, they are out there three four, five or even more times a week and the knowledge they have accumilated over the years helps them a lot. They also make sure they have the best baits. I could prodably give a list of the anglers who have agood chance of winning tomorrow, of course there is always the odd time when a not so well known or even a complete novice wins. Your every day angler is realy only in it to try and win a prize off the table.

Your every day angler is realy only in it to try and win a prize off the table.
£10 Ticket
£15 plus on bait,maybe,
£5 -£10 on petrol
£5 replace lost tackle
£5 lunch
not a cheap day out but you might pick a spool of line off the table for coming twentieth
you could spend £10 on bait and have two sessions pleasure fishing and catch bog all ! then again you might hit lucky if the conditions are right on Sunday night !Think alot of people are chasing a dream,

Your right about knowledge Alan,I fished with a friend of a friend over Christmas,he fishes the comps and is in a club, does very well out of it as well,I learned more off him in four hours then i will ever know, tips, advice, marks where to fish and where not

Would totally agree with you both about knowledge and advise anyone to join a club. Take no notice of the prima donnas, they are more to be pitied than scorned. You will find the better fishermen are more helpful AND knowledgeable.

Jim.
