ive just got in from fishing tynemouth pier and what a cracikng day its been. the weather was spot on with a light wind and even the fish turned up for a few of us. almost every cast i was getting bites but they were hard to hit so i decided to ignore the bites and leave it in the hope they'd hook themselves and it worked. on my first number i got a coalie which was only just undersize. plenty more bites followed but no more fish so off i went to fish my second number.
it wasn't long before i got a double shot, a flounder of 15oz and a whiting which was tiny, i didn't take a pic of the whiting as there wasn't enough zoom on my camera but here's a pic of the flounder which was quickly weighed and returned as it was full of roe.
then it was time for my third number which was right on the end and i got another sized flounder and a coalie which was only just size.
so my total catch was 2 flounder, 2 coalie and a whiting. i finished in 4th out of 26 people.
baits used were rag, lug, macky and squid but it was rag and macky that caught most fish.
