hi lads
myself and 2 mates are thinking of fishing the end of tynemouth pier at sometime this weekend is it best to take spinning or beachcaster rods

Take both m8 i do fish for pollock and maccy at last or first light 2 hours over low or high water.plenty whiting off the end on bait. If your wanting to spin flat calm seas are best. For the pollock try just to the left off black railing when looking at end of shields pier or the back wall.
If yoy hook into a good pollock walk it round the stairs at thw bottom to land it.

p.s i have just looked at sea forecast and would say first light sat morning would be best if you want to spin m8 sea's are due to be pretty flat and calm be fishing high down to low.

if i fish the pier is it tackle hungry and is it best to go after 8.30 when the gates are locked

you can only go on when the gates are locked just shimmy round the gate, not the seaward side though, the eastuary side. its hard to say the back wall can be a bit tackle hungry, otherwise its normally ok off he end, i was on there with a m8 on sunday and we lost 2 sets of gear between us in 10 hours and that the first i have lost in about 6 trips.

there are snaggy parts to the pier if fishing the lower deck next to the four posts but the end is normally ok.

so to climb round its on the right hand side of the gates as you walk to them
so for your weights is it best not to use spiders then sorry to be a pest but just trying to get as much info as poss. would we need our rod stands as well

yes m8, right hand side as your walking to them, plain leads or spides depends on the tides and how strong the tide pull is to be honest, if fishing 2 hours either side of low or high water then this is when tide pull is at its weakest so plain should be fine, use grippers if fishing when theres a bit movement on sea or when fishing the middle of the tide.

as for rod stands if you just intend on fishing the end then theres no need for rod stands.
