defo beats blanking tho ....was fishing with beach boy who kindly allowed me to use his rod rest...as i did not bring my own......can anyone tell me what kinda flatty this is please..the fish was safely returned...

did not weigh it so dont know exactly but an estimate would be poundand a quarter to pound and a half...i really couldnt say..the box was sp beta ...thought it mite have been a flounder so i chucked it back as it was still strong and lip hooked. now if i knew it was a dab......thanks for the explanation guys...i can now look forward to my next one.

nice size dab mate , i fished shields pier today and had a couple but were only small had 8 whiting also but no codling :mad:but still great to get out :D

cheers pop39... u keeping alright ?...i think i will start fishing shields this winter...just got me a job at doxie park ... looking forward to increase fishing activity asap....

aye mate i am fine cheers , if you make any plans to come through shields just give me a p.m a couple of days before and see if we can meet up mate , glad to see the job has come off :)

Next time you catch a Dab of that size mate I would recommend eating it...............one of the nicest tasting fish in the sea. Trouble with Dabs is that 90% of the ones you catch are too small to be worth cooking. However the one you caught was a belter. Good on you for "chucking it back", but unfortunately for the Dab, if I ever catch it , it won't be so lucky next time !
