Just back from Ferryden. Idea was to fish some of the marks we found last year and do some exploring up towards Stonehaven. Weather conditions, sea state and basic safety protocol meant all the exploration went out of the window and we were restricted to the marks we both knew and felt safe on.
Arrived last Sunday and got fishing around high tide. Went to the Quarry mark, at the north end of Usan to find a snotty south easterly sea. Rod quickly proved how snotty it was.......
Fishless we retired to the pub - 1-0 to the sea.
Monday saw the sea just as disturbed but on an ebbing tide we at least got reasonably comfortable and managed a few fish, best around 3lb.
All the fish were fresh run, nice and clean.
Tuesday's forecast was for rain and they were right, great lashings of it, bouncing off the rocks making them like glass.
However we persevered and managed some codling from the tangles plus a flounder of all things.
Rod made his usual contribution lol.
