Using frozen crab

Hi guys, just a quick question, having spoken to a couple of lads last night they both had different opinions on using frozen crab. One defrosted it to use and the other kept it frozen, saying to defrosts in the water and leaks the juices more slowly meaning it fished better for longer. I know how I use it but wondered what the opinions were?

keep frozen[infact take them in a soup flask and any you dont use is still froze to go back in ya freezer] then hook it and tie it on good with elastic cotton, thats the way as said better for keeping juicesin it sharp defrosts in the salty water:)atb plum

I do the same as I do with the frozen blacks, take them out frozen then defrost them a bit in your hand and bung them on the hook semi frozen.

Take two or three out of food flask to thaw out.. Then bait up when hook will pass through them easily.. Dont like using them too hard as difficult to present properly on hook.

Yeah as davey said if you wrap them with elastic while frozen the elastic will loosen when they defrost in the water and the crab will slide down and mask your hook, semi frozen for me just enough to wrap them well

Normally when fishing rock marks, they are in the flask, when i'm getting set up i chuck a couple in a rock pool, by the time i'm ready to bait up they are spot on.

Peel completely but if you can peel any claws the insides make a good addition to the bait in my view. Just lash them on the outside of the bait after the main crab meat is in place.
