Purchased these yesterday...I knew they'd be small but didn't perhaps realise just how small :red:

...still I'm looking forward to trying them out early season (they've got "mackerel" written all over them for later in the year methinks)

Anyone used smally shads before with any success?

We use them up scotland Tony we just cast them out let it sink a bit and then reel in slow then fast or just slow we have had pollack up to 5lb, light line and gear great fun.

We use them off the shore.

I was watching a programme about the worlds fattest man last night , the consultant dealing with the 56 stone bloke was explaining humans are the only animals on the planet that "snack" when they feel hungry , "lions don't nip out for a chipmunk in between wilderbeasts when they feel hungry" he said (or words to that effect) .
I wonder if monster cod snack on v small shads  :D

Worth a try ;)

PB Cod last season (11lb) came on a 100mm Shad...the weeks previous I had been slinging out 10/0 flowing traces loaded with 1 x mackerel fillet 1 x whole squid thinking that big bait = big fish

Yep , it makes sense , big baits = big fish ......... shame nobody told the big fish :D , loads of biggies come on small baits , but then loads of anglers fish with them , I think law of averages comes into play more often than not.
Small baits catch everything , much more fun than sitting waiting hours on end for the fish big enough to eat a whole mackerel or whatever, plus the thrill of not knowing whether the next one is going to be the lunker.
Can't be long now can it ??

When's the new craft arriving Ray? I was up at the marina before I came back to work and saw Eleda still there. I took Growler for a run down the harbour and got a bolluc*ng for speeding, I only put her slightly on the plane to push the water towards the bilge pump at the stern, Honest!;)
On the shads Tony they look cracking, how much were they? I am starting my stock up this six weeks at work online so I have a load of parcels to open when I get home! Just like Christmas again! I have been looking at those Fin Nor reels, they look the business but I don't know if the Mrs will let me throw 300 quid at a reel! It's the 6.1.1 retreive, lever drag and all sparkly and shiney that looks good to me.

Graham.

She's in the dealers now being fitted out , so hopefully in the next couple of weeks :D Eleda is at home for her last wash and polish before she goes in the opposite direction .
I've got no idea how to launch a boat at Amble marina off a wagon , it has to go through Amble boat yard I think
Once I get a delivery date I'll go see them and sort it , not much point till then , I've already given them a wrong date saying December , don't want to do it again
