Vietnamese River Cobbler.

We had to give my son a lift into work this morning and on the way back down the A1 decided to call into Tesco at Kingston Park. I was walking past the fish counter when I got my eye on the Vietnamese River Cobbler. I said to SWMBO do you fancy some of that, yes. I asked the girl what it was like and she said a bit bland, I still tried it and pleased I did, I wouldn't call it bland as it had a nice subtle flavour.

I banged it into the oven with a little Butter and some Lemon Thyme, wrapped in foil. Absolutely delicious with some still warm crusty bread, I could just eat it again lol. If I ever see it again I will definately have some more.

I've no idea what they look like Shaun, I just bought a couple of fillets but they are quite tasty. I can't believe that some fish and chip shop owners have been trying to pass it off as Cod, it is not even similar either in looks or texture. That said though a fish and chip shop once tried to give me Coley instead of Cod. They denied it and said I was wrong but as soon as I said I would be getting it tested they changed it for me. If some of them are doing this all of the time their profits will be canny.

Your not wrong el_sid, I don't think it would be any good in a fish pie or a Rissotto as it hasn't a strong taste but with just a very light sauce or butter and Lemon Thyme it is very tasty.

Tried it myself Jim.
Was not sure what it would be like but glad i did have it.
Quite a subtle taste, Just had mine with a small knob of butter:)
