I had a short session at the Walkway at Shields this morning 1am until 3.30am. It was pleasantly still and the water was flat as a pancake but full of loads of rubbish and weed. I was pulling in weed every chuck and managed to snag my line on a floating log and lose my gear at one point - not sure if it was a tree or a telegraph pole but it was big. Anyway I was the only one there at this early hour (who needs sleep anyway
) so it was a lovely relaxing couple of hours. I caught six whiting and lost a seventh on the retrieve. They ranged in size from 29cm to 39cm the smallest one having quite a stocky body shape which made me thing it might be something else until I saw all those sharp pointy teeth :mad2: grrr. I kept the 39cm one for breakfast and the others were all returned.
