Personally think its the most overrated mark in the north east.

But ideally fished on medium to small tides from low water, preferably a big sea on. cant stand the place tbh

Plenty of fish there mate if fished in the right conditions and far from over rated. Gives plenty of anglers who can't get along the piers or rock edges safe access to a good venue. As with all venues, get the conditions wrong then don't bother lol.

prk next to yacht club, baits all the usual will do ,i tend t use pulleys but use whatever you got , ground , wel as i have said befroe its a bit jeckyll and hyde when its goog its good but when its bad its bad but beat on medium , small tides

Saw a good few cod come from the mark on the past couple of years, 5lb+ are not uncommon which isn't bad for a 'river' mark. Seen all the usual including dogfish and gurnards etc caught. Not bad from a mark which only needs a 50yd walk, you can fish directly under a street light, has BINS that you can use and needs no hiking to get too..... I really like it! I usually catch plenty there, only issue is holding bottom on a big tide!

It's safe to say, the mark is what it is.... Chance of easy fishing and fish but its a bit sterile and soulless... Worth a go but probs not a 'go to' mark.

Fair do's... Prefer the pier but if its just a quick couple of hours and can't be bothered wasting 45mins walking on and off the pier then it still does for me. Don't get me wrong mate, fish it plenty just prefer other marks but often will fall back here as its an easy mark to fish

used to go fishing with a mate who had a bit difficulty climbing around the first gate when shut so we wound up at the walkway a few times, some lunker fish to be had when conditions right, I found a chuck into the middle of the river about 1 hour or so before ht best and crab as bait. still hate the place like for same reason as mark.

I caught my first size codling there a few years back which makes me fond of the place, but I think it is very hit and miss. Never seen a fish over 2lb caught there myself.

I would prefer to fish the groyne then the walkway had some great bags from the groyne. If your not putting a bait a decent way though prepair to lose some gear.
