HEARD THROUGH A THRID PARTY (DONT KNOW IF ITS A NASTY RUMOUR) THAT DAVEY BANK IN THE TYNE IS TO BE FENCED OFF AND A GATE PUT IN AT THE BEGINING OF THE ROAD NEXT TO FACTORY.
the rumour is true. The council are trying to sell the PUBLIC road to the factory(didnt know you could buy a road). They plan to extend the offices and put electric gates across the entrance blocking off a popular fishing mark.A little birdie has told me the deal to buy the road is not complete yet but it is in its latter stages. How can a council sell a popular road not just for fisherman but for the public unchallenged? Its not over till the fat lady sings.
Although i havent fished the area alot when i have ive often seen disabled anglers and children using the area. The area is idea for both as it is safe and confortable due to being able to drive the car to the waters edge and fish.
soon if no one makes a stand then the north side of the tyne will be unfishable past byker to the fish quay.
a friend of the family is on the council and the rumours are true, they are selling the road to factory but it has not went through yet! it will become privet property,,, that meens know fishing .! i fish there my self
Im very p**sed off to here this i love taking my kids there it safe and on cold wet days that can get in the car to keep warm does anyone no ov anything we can do?????????????
yes a friend of mine has looked into this and said that the road HAS been sold on the condition that the public can still get access to the river.I have been advised to write a letter to the company stating this and how we can get access when there is electric gates and security and also stating that this is a popular venue for disabled anglers. The more interest from us i.e letters the more likely they will comply.
