it's freaking snowing - again

snowed every day now for 3 weeks, currently piling down in blizzard conditions. where the snow is lying flat, its thigh deep, the drifts are well over my head, top of the fell behind us there's drifts that must be 20' or more

was a pile of snow drifted up against the back door chest deep this morning

and days of it still come to come according to the weather man

all the ski runs and tows are operating up the dale and in allenheads, they reckon its the best conditions they've had in over 30 years if there's any skiers/snowboarders out there

the main roads aren't too bad, but the car is at the house - 3 foot of now all around it and for the 500 yards of track to the road so we're going no where. even one of local farmers monster 4WD tractors with huge comedy sized wheels and tyres was stuck earlier

so if anyone has a helicopter and is heading this way, baccy & beer would be much appreciated

oh yeah, some food for my children might be useful as well :D

I've not been out at all Mark but my car just looks like a great big snow drift. My son says the main roads are fine but trying to get parked in Consett was pretty bad. How long the roads will stay clear I don't know as it has been snowing quite hard for the last hour or more. I was going to attempt to clean my car off today, I can't see any point at the moment lol.

If I could PM you some baccy or beer I would mate, but I don't think you would appreciate a picture of some :D :D

Jim.

Can't get the car oot the street!

Just had the snow come down of the roof like an avalanche, cacked me pants.

No where near as bad as your place but not what I'm used to.

I nearly never made it back home today after checking the boat.

Great pics lads.

Just back from the match, bloody coldest I've been for along time.

I knew it was gonna be icey so put my boots on - big mistake, I made it down the street by walking in the middle of the road but had to cross just as a car load of peeps pulled up and fell flat on ar$e :red: Luckily I've got plenty of padding so just the pride hurt lol.

Just seen the forecast for the week Mark. If anything it looks worse than the week just gone. We've got about 1/8th of an inch here but there's people skidding around outside the house. Hope you've got plenty coal !!

luckily our coal man came last week so enough in for a fortnight now

off out with the kids on the ski's in a bit, the snow is absolutely perfect, deep powder over ice.

mental had a jaunt out with one of the locals earlier, bit of a reccy, need to get out tomorrow, ran out of vodka, reduced to drinking benedictine and advocaat and smoking earl grey tea

8 wheel drive unimog - a big un, 36" wheels, full diff locks, real big boys toy off roader.... got stuck on the road from here to blanchland. the bit further on from where we 'stopped' must have had 15' at least of snow over it, no snow poles, no fences visible nowt

road from here to allendale/hexham same story

road from here over to consett via castleside closed still, council have even gone to the extreme and piled a massive bank of snow across the road to stop eejits like me trying to get over anyway

road up dale to alston same story!

and there's loads more forecast!

there's a road under there, and snow poles under all those drifts on the left
