weekend

We will just have to hope the fish are playing still, i am out sat with a mate and planning a trip Monday on my todd unless i someone joins me and if the weather lets me. Fingers crossed, worst comes to worst i will change the oil and put the boat away until spring, always like to change the oil, drain the water system and add a fuel protect and remove anything that may rust, crack or freaze for that for the long winter ahead

The forecast has changed again. Saturday is looking calm and the wind appearing on Sunday. I’ll be out tomorrow probably on my own, making the most of any chances to get out this late in the season.

Wor Lass listening on ch6

I am out Sat and Monday, having a late start due to the cold mornings and the sea will only clam down as the day goes on so wont be out the piers until 9am...hoping for a couple keepers and a few mackerel would be nice for tea.

Good luck Kev, i dont often leave my radio on once i get past the 4 mile mark.

Cheers Richie. If I find any fish, I'll try and let you know, but I'm still learning to drive my new mobile.

I know, I often see you coming in as we head out. No wonder we never find any fish left after you and Norman have had first crack at them. :D

Well it was nice to see a few of the normal faces out at sea today for what will 100% be my last trip of 2012. A great day at sea with sun warming our faces up after a cold start, light wind and a ok sea, the fish never showed in any real number again but we did have smiles when we hit on a massive shoal of big mackerel and gave us the fresh bait we had hoped for.

All in all a nice day out, now its time to strip the boat and get her ready for what i feel will be a very cold and long winter waiting to see if 2013 is going to be a repeat of 2011 or 2012???? i know what one i be hoping for :)

NE1,
do you lift out and winterize your boat ? sounds like she will be laid up for 4-5 months.

No mine stays in the water.

I change the oil and filters
Dry up all water from engine bay
Drain the cooling pipes and pump
Remove all electrical equipment
Add doctor fuel to the tank
check anti-freeze levels
Make sure all deck drain holes clean and valves in working order
Remove the two batterys

Then thats it she will not start up ffrom 13th of Oct until the last weekend of March, i do the same every year maybe right maybe wrong system but it has been ok for the past 4 years.

Only time i check it out is after we get alot of snow to make sure drian holes clear or if we had gale force winds and check fenders and ropes.

Rich,
That's pretty much the lot covered, do you do a fresh water flush on the raw water before draining ? i was looking at tapping into the raw water side, when the sea cock closed and do a flush in at the strainer, bypassing the raw water pump and out after the heat exchanger, circulating it, with some Rydme mix, then finish off with clean water,....when i get around to it.

if i don't do Rydme i will just go through the raw water pump with fresh water.
