what a big supprise on the beech

i was fishing at the end of seaham prom last night , just past the steps and there was the remains of one dead rays bream and we had one alive rays bream washed up about 3 lb in front of us.... chucked it back into the sea and never saw it washed up again, so maybe it swam away!!!
cheers
Paul

The British record for a rays bream some years back was 7lb-odd, caught on Crimdon beach by a lad from Thornley. Must have been nigh on 40 years ago. Probably not even on the list as a species now.

Yer i stepped over 2 on Tynemouth beach just before...one was still moving but it had no chance so just left it for some kids and there mother to put back in the water.

I have seen 4 now washed up in about 7 walks along the beaches in our areas since November.

Wish i knew a few trawler lads, would love to know how many they get in the nets and what other strange things they get....i have always fancied having a day out on a trawler and seeing what they drag up.
