Well as the title suggests, even though it's been not the best of weather it did eventually clear up today.

Out at last (although my usual crew were hard at work) out the piers and into a reasonable calm sea, considering .......

Stopped off at the usual spot not too far away and into fish almost as I touched bottom. Thought this was a bit too early for such a heavy fish but smiled when I got to the surface to find 2 nice cod around 5lbd each (thats about £20.00 worth going by the price of fish these days :) )

Decided to do a close in wreck since the forcast, although holding at present, was not the best for the afternoon.

Again almost as I touched bottom there it was ...... this was one of those excellent moments when you think "Am I snagged , or is it big?"
Lo and behold it was big, so big it took line then gave it back again and again on the way up ...... eventually it broke surface and there it was (and me with no crew to man the Gaff) my first Double of the season, in fact my first ever 30lbd fish, a whopping great 32.5lbd cod !.
Looks like it's fish and fish and fish and chips tonight ! :)
Unfortunately what with this being April 1st and midweek with everyone else at work I didn't have the opportunity to photograph myself .....
however I`m sure you can imagine .... :)

cheers
