WHAT Boat 10k

GROWLER

Well-known member
Im looking for a new boat 10k to spend ,
what do you lot rate as the best fast fishers been looking at these so far

Honda Outboard / Suzuki Outboard

reiver sport -
predator 165-
warrior 165 -

let me know what you lot rate ... need something fast and agile solid in adverse weather its for 4people fishing ,diving , wave hopping .:red:

:yltype:

I am not a fan of outboards but if i was to choose from them i would go for the Predator, one next to me at the marina and a very nice boat, fast but likes the juice.

I say every year i am going to upgrade then the season is here and i just fish, then winter months come i forget about it then say i will upgrade then its April and i fish lol

i prefer the reiver sportsman bigger stable dry made locally excellent boats over your choices but they could do with better storage if byou choose one you wont be dissapointed.

After having a Reiver Sportsman before the M/Fisher i found it a great boat but it lacked storage area, and would be a bit crowded fishing four people as would be the Predator and Warrior 165. Going from your Warrior 150 to a 165 type you wont be gaining that much room really. The Warrios 175 looks beamy and would fish 4, but the prices are high.
Are you going for a new outboard, or used Graham ?

£10k will get you a cracking nearly new 165 , that's what my 2 year old explorer elite sold for complete with 60hp motor and raymarine electronics.
I wouldn't worry too much about which boat or engine , if you want a fast fisher any of the 165's with at least a 60hp on the back will do you well , predator , explorer, reiver, warrior, alaska , they are all very similar boats and will all do the job , I'd go for at least a 60hp 4 stroke, again , there are no bad makes amongst the popular brands . honda , yamaha , suzuki , mecuy etc all good. I'd look for aything in that range that was a good deal.
However , having said all that , these boats ae not really big enough to fish 4 anglers , they will fish 4 , but it's uncomfortable , if you really want to fish 4 on a egular basis and still want a fast boat you will probably have to look at something like an alaska 600 or one of the bigger wilsons.

i don't mean to sound biast towards quicksilvers/arvors but if you have 10k to spend, does that include the trade in value of growler?

reivers, warrior and predators are in the same group, but before you commit to buying any of the above i'd look at what trade in value you would get from growler, this may boost the total spend to 15-16k, then you're in a different area boat wise

quicksilver for me, offer exelent value for money as do the more expensive arvors, better boats altogether have a look at the 560,580,maybe 640 is pushing buget but definatly worth a look

i've got the 560 and well happy with it and the 80 hp motor,

your welcome to have a look round mine, it may change your mind..

I don't think "growler" the poster and "growler" the warrior 150 ae the same , Graham B and Mickky have a boat named growler , but their forum names are different ,:confused::confused: , I'm confusing myself now :D , but I know what I mean :D

i agree with easy fish but bigger boats are in different category inboard diesels or big outboards etc got to make decision wetheror not permanent mooring or both trailer and mooring.

if you want to fish four, have plenty of room and stability try and have a look around for a second hand cheetah catamaran, think the smallest is 20foot, but cracking boats, don't know why more anglers around here don't get cats, they are ideal for the choppy north sea.

Thanks for your replys its a night mare finding a good deal
looking to keep the boat trailer friendly unless someone can get me on them moorings southshields .

currently in the R q

Not sure when it comes to the engine choice I like the hondas realy strong quality and thats what a tight geordie likes £££ :red:

I like the look of the dory/ wilson flyers but they are getting on a bit and you have to be certain the hull is water tight to save on the rebuilding.

seen a bonwitco 600 with a yanmar 240hp engine on flee bay but the seller didnt reply to the email ... now that would have fit the slot .

spoke to a kind gentleman at the marina who has a reiver sport it looked realy good just the vision through the windows that may give a problem, the windows are small .:o

whats the engine in the merry fisher ian are they 2stroke ??

keep the comments coming
