Anyone out there can give me advise on the best club to join. I'm not an every week angler but would value the help and friendship of fellow anglers and be able to fish an odd club match or two to help me find out more. Any advise most appreciated.

Thats a good question. Well Im just north of the tyne. But thats not an issue with me as I am very willing to travel. I'm only looking for advise and opinions on the most recommended clubs so I can to narrow down my options as to the most friendly and understating bunch of anglers. I watch the forum a lot and see only a small percentage of the clubs in the North East mentioned regularly.

Clubs seem to keep there reports & activitys to themselves, The way I pick it up that the clubs have a bit of a click, you have to be in one to understand, I myself have thought about joining one, but never have, It would be good to enjoy sessions alongside others whom enjoy the hobbie, as well as in club comps.

Hello,
as wallsendo has said it depends on where you live realy.there are quite a few clubs around.

If you are South of the Tyne then I know that South Shields Angling Club is a very well established club with regular comps and annual away trips to Scotland and such. They also run one of the oldest open comps in the country.

Seaham club is another one with the added advantage of access to the North pier at Seaham, they too run several comps for both adults and juniors.

North of the Tyne Tynemouth club are one of the oldest and also Meadowell club are worth considering. Both these clubs have regular comps and members are allowed to fish the pier.

There is information about these and several other clubs on the Nesa homepage.

Good Luck, Ian

Thank you for this I will follow up your advise. Seaham and South Shields are areas I fish quite regular and have often thought of joining one of these clubs. I was keen to seek the forum members opinions prior to making a final decision.

Your best bet if you are local to these clubs would be to go along to a meeting & see how you feel, then decide on which club fits your requirements.

is there any contact details for this club ian?.....

I can't find any Lukey, I remember seeing the results from their club matches (SMAC) but not for some time. You could ask in one of the tackle shops, maybe Lewis's or ID.

Sorry I'm unable to help you mate.

Regards Ian
