what i think

I have been reading most of the threads lately and I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people on this site are stuck up their own arses, they go on about the chavs in the summer months [I have yet after over 40 years fishing seen anyone in a Burberry hat and a load of bling wrapped around their necks fishing]
people with inferior tackle, so what not every one has hundreds of pounds to
spend on gear at least they are trying.
other people on this site demean people who fish our piers why just because you can hit a 6oz lead 150 yards from the beach does not mean you are a better angler than some one who hits 30 yards from a pier [and into much deeper water] and what about people who fish from boats they don't even cast but I can guarantee they catch more and bigger fish than the big hitters on the beach or rock edges.
I can go on and on
why do we always bicker with each other on this site we have between us a vast knowledge of sea angling, share it, don't knock people when they ask stupid questions help them ,put them on the right track without making them feel like idiots for asking the question in the first place, nobody knows every thing about our sport but sharing without malice can only be a good thing.

Peoples opinions like yours and if you aint seen chavs with bling round there neck you aint been on a pier in summer as you get loads the bickering should stop and i am one of the ones bickering. As its a forum everyone has there own say on a matter and not everyone beleives the same so there will be arguing. But as for sharing info i beleive all the lads bickering are the first to help if they they can.

Ive fished since I was five, but Ive only been into sea fishing properly for about 14 months and I found the majority of people on here very helpful. There is some banter and tail pulling but in my experience of the site I find it funny. As for casting into the horizon I'm not great, but lads on here have given me free friendly help as well as taken me out to some great marks. There never judged my casting ability and were always helpful even when my 60yrd max cast brought up fish and there 200 yard cast didn't. I think what most of the lads are trying to say is some people who only fish for mackerel in the summer abuse the decent fishing ways that most of us adhere to all year round! So in my opinion your wrong!

Your 60yd cast brought a 8lb fish lol

Do you not think you will always get the elitists with all forms of fishing though? I also fish for trout sometimes on the fly and sometimes on the ledger - and when I have told people that I caught on the ledger I have been sniggered at and been told that it isnt really sport catching them that way etc. It isn't that I can't fish on the fly - just that sometimes I would rather set up by the side of the water, set the rod alarm and relax. Doesn't make me any less an angler. I don't have a problem with anyone trying any form of angling as long as they are having fun and not doing anything to spoil other peoples enjoyment.

I just don't get the hatred for mackerel, "sick of bloody mackerel" etc...as if cod are the only fish allowed

Phil your a cheeky bugger that cast was at least 62 yards, and for spending loads of money all me gear is second hand!!!

hello paul i read your thread and you have some valid points but some of the so classed makki bashers dont bother about peoples safety, they leave cans and bottles all over the pier, rubbish scattered all over and for filleting there 200 makki they leave a giant pile of guts lying there which attracts millions of flies and some show no respect for other anglers and people going for a walk up the piers
i have a 5yr old son who loves fishing and i would love for him to catch a mackeral but would not put him in an area of filth, swearing, dope and the main one danger and this is my opinion
not all just a minority spoiling it for others and yes ive seen older anglers doing the same
if and when piers start to get closed this will be 1 of the main factors

Don't quite know how some of the folk on here, manage to get stuck up
their own arses, but as someone who doesn't have a great deal of luck
with the opposite sex, could someone 'in the know' so to speak,pm me
with the relevant details?
I once tried to give myself a nosh,by sitting in a dustbin, but found myself
unable to get out,and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.
I struggled to get them to accept i was playing 'hidey' especially as i was
naked from the waist down, and would prefer not to suffer such indignity
again.
Any help would be held in the strictest confidence, and would be
greatly appreciated.;)

Chav as in the ones who normally hang around in parks with their bottles of cider, clearly you have been watching too much tv assuming all chavs wear burberry caps and bling!! Its got nothing to do with what gear anyone uses or how far they can cast, as mick said its the simple fact that they dont have a care with regards to safety, slamming mackerel off the floor in front of families walking on the the pier, swearing in front of kids, casting 5-6 oz leads with no leader, littering the place, ****ing all over the place in front of children...the list goes on

My thoughts exactly

totally agree with you

I've said it once, and I make no apologies for saying it again. Doesn't matter what sort of fishing your "thing" is : If you enjoy it.............DO IT !
However I totally agree with the points made about respecting safety for others, keeping the coastline and piers clean and tidy and also respect your catch. Don't take undersize fish and only keep what you intend to eat.
As the advert says: SIMPLES !

chavs
