What line do people use

hi all am in the process of getting a new reel and am after new line a was thinking along the lines of ultima f1 in black but would like peoples opinions on what they use

Daiwa sensor 15lb/18lb for clean/mixed ground and 30lb for heavy ground aswell as 66lb power pro with a 100lb braid leader. I've started using rovex 10 x formula and that's spot as well.

You will find most lines are like marmite, take the F1 for example there's plenty will slate it yet I've used it and found it casts really well, has good abrasion reistance and is very strong. Didn't buy more than the one spool of it though as I found the black a right pain in the arse night fishing as it is impossible to see...

For mono I now use the 19lb (.35mm) Suffix Tritanium in yellow, again I find it casts very well and is plenty strong enough but others dislike it.

I've just got a kilo spool of 17lb okuma platinum for the summer months, seems fine to me gonna get some heavier Berkley for the winter

Avoid f1 it's expensive it's like rubber far to stretchy very poor breaking strain it does cast ok but again to expensive for what it is if you want a smooth casting line sakuma night crystal is a much better line all round to f1 storm tournament in rutherfords is almost identical in fact am sure its the same and half the price

I like Daiwa Sensor and Berkley BigGame (trilene).

I have some Aiwa Shima Catfish line but have not had the chance to try it out yet.

Regards Ian

Phil's comments are what I meant by marmite. I used the Night Crystal on the field for casting and it was brilliant, got some in a higher diameter for fishing and thought it was appalling line, poor abrasion resistance and very weak (this was fishing over shingle on the south coast) - after just a couple of trips it would start snapping if I got a decent lump of weed on. But it is a line he likes and that works for him - who is to say I'm right and he's wrong?

You'll find differing opinions on most lines, best advice is to look out for the consensus that a line is crap and stear clear of those ones (Red Ice is a good example).

i found the night crystal was allso poor for fishing, the okuma platinum 20 pound in killo spools is much better imho
