What line

Lads I'm looking at buying some line, currently using the daiwa sensor 20lb but finding this too thin for my liking. I'm after something ranging from 20lb - 25lb so I won't have to use a shock leader too. I'm currently using a slosh30 and only fish beach or river marks, nothing really rough ground. Can anyone point me in right direction.

Cheers

I've been fishing the last few months without a shock leader using the daiwa 20lb and had no problems, using 5oz weight. Would you recommend using on all the time, if so what shock leader too?

Agree with the above but for line i use Berkley big game 30lb and av got to say it takes some strain to snap it out of a snag

 , you're lucky you haven't injured someone mate.

I'd use shocker on anything under 60lb. If you want thin line without shockers then use 65lb plus braid.

Mono, I use 20lb and 30lb daiwa sensor, with tapered shock leaders.

Injured someone how mate? I've fished for last 3months or so atleast once per week with no shock leader at all, never had a snap off or anything.

Its probly ok if yr not putting the lead out far but if yr power casting yr weight theres big chance of a crack off m8 berkley big game 30lb with 60lb shocker on a slosh 30 will be mint

If you thump it with a lighter line and no shocker it will snap and you're sending a lead weight out at speed. That is how you can injure someone.

Rule of thumb I follow is to use shock leader if your main line is less than 10 times your lead weight.

Ok Robbo point taken, thanks for feedback, I will rephrase the thread question then: can anyone help me out with which line would be best 20 - 30lb and which shock leader to go for.

Berkeley big game 30lb great for winter but always with shock leader mate you will one day have an accident that you will regret for life

I like the tapered leaders as you get small knots and they've not let me down. As for makes, leaders much of a muchness to me.

Main line, I like the hyper sensor but the Berkeley big game is also canny. Maybe think about braid as well?

I'm using 20lb daiwa st tourney mate, brilliant line, nice and thin, great casting and as tuff as fook. I use a 50lb penn tuff stuff shocker which I've never had any problems with apart from they don't make it any more:D on my last coil now so gonna have to find an alternative.

20lb big game with 60lb Sakuma shock leader for me.

(What rod and leads are you using? The usual rule of thumb is 10lb of shock for every ounce of weight, but I'd say it's depends on the rod and casting style - smashing 6oz out with a stiff rod would snap 20lb sensor easy! but just lobbing 5oz with a softer match type rod wouldn't shock the line as much.)

I use daiwa tournament 501b with a shock leader on me rough ground reels me 525 mags for the beach daiwa sensor 18lb also with shock leader shockleaders are just a safety measure
