What next?

Alreet, my favourite mark (Frenchmans Bay) seems to be dieng a death lately, this is my first year fishing and I was wondering what you lot would reccommend to move on to now? Little bit limited to distance, maybe an hour from South Shields at max, i'm guessing that the cod have all gone now? is that right?
Any info would be appreciated

Depends on what you're wanting to target...

Spinning/Light gear tactics for Macky/Flatties etc is at least a month away I reckon as this year has been very stilted as far as traditional seasons go

As soon as it becomes settled I'm hitting the rivers and estuaries to try and bag a specimen Flatty on light gear....

Cod are very localised - IE Rocks/Kelp etc..so it depends where you want to go...see no reason why you wouldn't be able to still catch them in your neck of the woods

I've never fished it - but S/Shields pier must surely be worth a shot - deep water at your feet

aye the macky will be here soon so you can go for them, you'll pick up fish floating along the edge of the pier with the chance of Wrasse and the odd pollock, failing that theres the rocks around Whitburn were there's the chance of a few cod in the kelp. Personaly last year i traveled to Craster for cod, its not too far away and there are some nice cod kicking around in the kelp also Beadnell floating for wrasse it all depends on what you want to catch.

Have a wander along the cliffs from Frenchies to Whitburn and you'll see loads of new marks to try mate, im hoping to get a few wrasse from Whitburn this summer and spy some new marks for the coming winter season.

Try the Tyne mate.There`s loads of places to fish on the south side of the river,all the way up to dunston area for codling,flatties etc some good bags to be had too.
