Forgot to post this last week so here`s a hunt the species question ..... all answers greatly accepted.

Last week end whilst drifting over a wreck about 7 miles out there was a flash and trail in the water ...... luckily I wasn`t the only one to see it as immediatly both Steve and I looked a each other and utterd words to the sound of "what the fook was that? "

Facts

was about 10-12inches long
looked white
was about 2 to 3 foot under the surface
travelled at about 40 -50 miles an hour in a straight line from one side of the boat straight under and away out the other side
didn`t wriggle or burst like swimmers.

amazing sight , so , waddya think it could have been.

Norman ,your description sounds spot on mate , my first thought was a mackerel ,but the colour was wrong , so ............... the verdict is open !

I am going for a sea trout or salmon also, seen them off the pier and it always a case of "what was that..a fish i think"

Tell you what i seen the other day, a young lad caught a shad over 1lb, it was the 1st one i had ever seen...sorry Mr C it was already dead the lad walked upto me to ask if i knew what it was, Strange mouth and face on it mind, over grown Herring that hit all the branches on the way down i would say
