Although Andy Weatherspoon knew the tadpole fish of 1lb 15oz he caught during Tynemouth\'s match on Tynemouth pier would smash the existing British record of 1lb 5oz 12drams, rather than kill the fish as the rules for record claims Andy decided he would rather forgo the glory and return the fish alive.

It will, however, be accepted as a North-East record as it was weighed during a club match and witnessed by numerous anglers.

Does that mean Bert still has the record or has it been smashed again?
