been fishing with tynemouth club for over thirty years ,the time has just flown over ,turned 66 today got up monday shattered after fishing st abbs to read a blatent lie and one or two snide remarks about wrasse ,is it all worth it ,should i let the younger members run the club.been thinking off learning fly fishing as a lot off members do it inthe summer, just want a qiuet life helping forum members with there marks and my experience on my home patch ,or would i miss the thrill off landing another doubler ,think this krinkly s had to much cider ,dougy,s coming round to watch newcastle so will celbrate a bit more cheers from two old grumpy men davy:red::red::red:

Happy birthday Davey, I would have thought you were a mere young'un compared to Dougy - must have many fishing years ahead of you yet!! Chris is still fishing hard in our club - puts many anglers half his age to shame when it comes to fishing up & down the country & getting bait.

Enjoy your birthday, have fun with Dougy watching the footy & come out into the winter season feeling re-invigorated - who knows, he might even drag you round the golf course one of these days:D

Gary :)

Happy Birthday Dave,
I have to say you have a fair few good years left.
One of our committee members had his 80th birthday this month and he is a legend.
Not only is his angling knowledge unsurpassed but he is a fantastic role model and devoted member of our club.
We are a Fly fishing club and he is out surveying our 22 miles of water checking that anglers are "permitted" to fish; on a daily basis.
Our Riparians contact him if there is any issue with a trout rod on their water and he knows the laws as he probably wrote most of them.
The years fly by but it is the years to come that are the most exciting.

Enjoy your day knowing that - I would love to hear from you and any advice you have for me, I'm not too old to learn.

Apparently I'm still a lad at 44 (fishing for 33 of them) ... :red:

Hi Dave,
Plenty of years left to fish yet, just got to pace yourself. You can't go running around like a young thing! Joe Dent is 84 and is still doing well in club comps and the odd open. I turned 60 this month, but it looks like it will be another 5 years until I'll be joining you fishing on the pier!
All the best mate.
Regards Sam

cheers sam you can still fish the r/m matchs if you want to one this friday 10 till 3 00just come down to the pier davy

Only been in this game for a few years and would like/hope to think that I still have the drive for it as you do at your age Davey

Tynemouth was the first club that really got me into the "club" scene and while I admit that match fishing isn't for everyone it is for me and I reccomend any angler wanting to fine tune their skills to join a club as it makes you think outside the box at times when you coulld be tempted to sit in the same spot chucking out the same baits hour after hour - anglers like Dave are always willing to share and teach if asked nicely

here's to another 20 years Dave and no doubt you'll still be fishing the matches then too :)

Never mind where have the years gone davidhayley1945, where has apollo mk3 gone???...:(

He was only explaining his side of the story on another thread and was sticking to his guns. He did not swear, curse, call name or etc, but you still managed to get him banned... AGAIN!:mad2:

Poor show mate. :(

i didn;t get him banned he was already banned shouldnt have been underhanded posting under a different name .how long will he last on b.s.a.

He was banned using a different username to before, that doesn't mean he can't come back a nice man using a new one. For Christ sake me n him had a massive fall out on here ages ago, but now where good friends no questions asked:).

He didn't do one bad thread, post or anything of the sort as 'apollo mk3' as he new the last one did get out of hand.

a can see where both sides of the story are coming frim, but to go to the extenr of banning over a wee rant is rather gobsmacking to be honest...

To be fair we all need to lighten up as the WINTER SEASON is coming!!:D
