some of the tackle shops r selling frozen velvet swimming crabs from abroad my mate got some from id a think.dont no if its any good or price
fishman :)

it was a joke Jonny , your getting an angry head on a bit quick these days ,changed your Spliff supplier or just a bad batch LOL ;) ;)

The imported Velverts are the biggest con going, no scent no nowt just full of water.
The velvets out of you pots wont be much cop niether, just like shore crabs they have got to be in the moult (popping).
If you do get some that are about to peel you will be onto a winner, they have got to be the second best cod bait going (hermit being the first), they are normally very big and full of scent.
just my oppinion lads but they can outfish most other baits from most venues.
My preferences.....
1) fresh hermit
2) Velvet swimmers (not the imported sh!te)
3) Eddy peeler( no that aint a geezers name lol)
4) Shore crab
5) Big blacks
6) Mussel (rotten)
7) Blow
8) Squid
and the rest are much of a muchness.
Who ? can disagree with a list like that ;) ;) :D

Never tried fresh hermit Tala, but I agree with you about velvet peelers (not the imported crap) - cracking bait, its just a right twat getting them ;)

Yeh! u got it Dash, the big b@stards, best bait I have ever used but they are hard to get hold of unless u know someone in the know ;)
Velvets are taking all the big fish at the mo, lads are putting big shore crab baits on and lashing half a velvet to it, big foocing bait (and I mean the size of an adults fist) but out fishes everybody else.
Have a word with local pot men, they will sort you out for the price of a few beers... :D

bonus is u can get hermit nearly all year round, dont need to be in the moult...

I actually live as far away from the seas as it is possible to get in the UK (shropshire) so only get to fish the east coast occassionally in the summer. But when I do get up I\'ve got a few pots I use myself, so hopefully enough hermits will wander in to give em a try. Has a wrasse of over a pound in one of em last year.

Dean where they the imported stuff? if so you should listen to Davy.
They arnt even good enough to bulk baits up with.
