which abu is this?

hi all!
ive come into possesion of an old swedish made abu
only problem is im not sure of the model pretty sure its an 6500
but the handle throws me seen the same model on flea bay exact same but was listed as a 7000 model HELP!!!!
ive come to you ladds because of your vast knowledge of such things

i would agree mate but the handle is the killer the previous owner
had it for a longggg time and all the parts are original from day of purchase
its the same size as my other 6500 models

the previous owner did say the reel was used back in he 80s
im not very good on abus mate

I wouldn't worry to much about it mate there may be a few variations of handles

true matey well whatever the model its getting used next trip down the tyne methinks! not sure the age but runns smooth as silk as swedish abu's

Its a 6500.This one has bronze bushes fitted when new, instead of bearings.
Any Abu without a "C" after the number is the same.
It has also had the Level wind removed.....

It will have the year of manufacture stapmed on the underside of the reel foot!

6000, had one converted for casting had the bushes removed and replaced them with bearings. Great little reel the model i had was the same spec as the 6500 but with cheaper side plates and bushes instead of bearings

well this one was very kindly given to me by a pal its two yrs younger
than me but casts alot better
will get the bushes changed for bearings in time but will be using it at the first
oppotunity matey in the coming weeks!

its 6000c abu bought in 85 for pollock fishing,put an old red 7000 handle on for more leveridge as i was starting to hit double figure pollock ,went on to a shimano speedmaster which had a small power handle ideal ,the twin black handle is the orginal one davy good luck with the reels they were for me .

anyone know what gear ratio speed the 6000c is im thinking 5.3:1 any help lads??
