Hiya lads .....regarding rotton bottoms , ive used several bought items from tackle shops , and was just wondering how to construct a rotton bottom device with just the aid of a loop in yer main line and a pin ,and also does anyone have any ideas of how to incorporate a some form of bait clip at the same time with the aid of the pin ,, i think imight have an idea but struggling with what to use as the pin and bait clip in one ,,,,any ideas cheers

Thats a good one cod seeker but not what im thinking about , and theres no were for the hook to clip to , cheers anyway bud....

you could use the rig as the link shows with another bait clip fitted the other way round slightly above the bait clip being used for the loop

There is to many metal bits n pieces on the trace to , im thinkiong along the lines of just a small loop at the end of main line then pushed through sinker eye then a pin pushed through the loop, but the problem im having is finding some type of pin i can hook the hook onto ,so the only bit of metal is the pin , maybe a pin with a flat wideish area wide head that could push through the loop to the big head then hook the hook undert the pin side ,,,,,,,,like i say i think i know what im after and was hoping somebnody else will use the same rig and say yeah the pin i use is a .........sow n sow............cheers for the response anyway

The old way of doing "rotten bottoms" was just to finish the hook trace with a loop push it through the eye of the weight , slip a bit of matchstick through the loop to hold the trace line in place. When your weight hits the water the matchstick just floats away. You still need you light line loop as well.

Panel pin with a bit of foam on works every time. Cheapest strongest and most reliable rotton bottom out there.

A trick i use is to have 2 bits of light line to connect the sinker. Snaps with a good pull but lose far less sinkers bumping off rocks on the retrieve.
