Whitby Piers.

Whitby Piers.

If your going to fish it, wait till low tide and have a walk out onto the rocks.
This is a rough, kelp, seaweed terrain but there are a number of deep holes which can be seen from the pier at low tide but are better viewed close up.
Due to the eroding cliff face there are a large number of sized boulders scattered about which can snag you up.
Stay away from the end as the extended pier is collapsing and the walkway to it has fallen into the sea causing snagging.
You can't fish into the harbour but when you walk onto the pier there are some stone steps to the left leading onto the beach (at low tide) go a few metres up from these and cast straight out (your well away from the main route of boats) and your casting onto a crackin rag/lug bed. Flatty city.
The west pier is ideal for flounder as its snag free and a sandy base.
The pier does get blasted on rough tides so beware.
The biggest problem is the parking to get onto the pier as all residential otherwise its the 199 steps and a cardio workout in with the fishing.:D
