whitch side of the pier to fish?

hi ppl im thinking of fishing with our lass (my lift lol) at roker (sunderland) one afternoon this week can any one help me in what rigs are best ie flapper pully ect.. and is it snaggi n whitch side is best fishing twards the beach side or habour side. Any help will be gr8ful thnks spotter h.pool:D:D

fish the last 30 yards on the seaward side or on the round head two hook flappers with rag and mackerel for flats or use crab for coalies,with the mackerel being in could be hard work keeping a bait on the bottom for any length of time,fishing next the steps closest to the pier on the inside can produce just casting short with crab or worm with no problems from the mackerel hunters ...
 
I wouldnt fancy trying to fish the bottom on the end this time of year like as their are normally well within excess of 100+ macky bashers giving it what for! You could try the barrier, as your walking on the pier the first pole you co e to sticking up seaside is ok but you need a fair bit water there
