Is anyone catching whiting north of the tyne? (No mention of them in catch reports, but I suppose there's been plenty of codling around...)

Had them last two beach sessions south of the Tyne mate, Seaham and Marsden. So they shouldn't be far away.

Yet to see any weighed in in any of the Whitley or South beach club matches although I believe Tynemouth club had a couple a few weeks back when it was flat. I've yet to see one this winter (if you can call fishing in shirt-sleeves last night again "winter" fishing!).

not many down hendon this year , had very few out, compared to other years poor for the tings

Seaham hasnt seen the usual numbers yet.. In fact they seem to be getting fewer in number the last couple years.. Rely on them for the winter sport when the cod not showing their heads!

Thanks for the answers lads. I wonder whether the influx of codling has out-competed the whities. It'll be interesting to see if calm seas turn things in their favour........
